Candid, natural but still luxury wedding photography and videography at barn venue in Lancashire, Rivington Hall Barn

At the beginning of April 2025, we had the total pleasure of capturing Emma & Tom's stunning wedding at Rivington Hall Barn.

It was our first time at this gorgeous venue and gosh, we hope we'll be able to head back there soon. From the moment we arrived the staff made us feel so at home - Gilly even took us on a little tour to show us around which was so appreciated.

This lovely venue is divided into two parts, with the main barn for the ceremony/ wedding reception and a separate, insanely beautiful house to be used for a getting ready space in the morning.

After setting up some of our gear in the barn ready for the ceremony, Amy headed over to capture both photo & video of Emma's morning preparations and Ben drove to a local hotel to do the same for Tom and his groomsmen. The fabulous Megan also spent the day with us capturing behind the scenes content and it was so nice to have her helping out.

Emma, her bridesmaids, Mum, Grandma and lovely daughter (and flower girl) were super relaxed when we arrived, with the wonderful Leanne Jackson MUA on make-up and Kirsty Marie Hair and Beauty in charge of lots of gorgeous up-dos. There were three separate spaces for the bridal party to use, one of which was used to hang up the dresses and store everyone's bits and pieces. We used this space to photograph Emma's stunning Morilee dress and all her bridal accessories, including a very special bouquet charm.
Amy also headed back to the ceremony room which was now set-up and ready to go, with florals by AM Flowers, to grab some detail shots of the stunning room before the guests arrived. The lighting in there is so pretty with tonnes of fairy lights and gorgeous drapery making the room an absolute show stopper all by itself.

Meanwhile, the groom and groomsmen had hired a minibus to travel to the venue and Ben decided to head off a little before them and fly the drone, filming them on their journey for a bit of a different perspective, before jumping back in the car and carrying on to the venue where we re-grouped and spent a bit of time with just the groom and groomsmen as they fixed their button holes, greeted a few early bird guests and had a quick pint of Guinness on the sunny outdoor terrace - what a start to the day!

Back with Emma, her sister helped her into her gown and we spent another ten or so minutes with her, capturing those final touches and some candid bridal portraits while she finished getting ready, before arranging a quick first look with her dad, who was waiting for her at the bottom of the staircase.

While Emma had her pre-wedding chat with the registrar, we checked in with Tom, popping a microphone on him to make sure we'd be able to hear him and Emma saying their vows loud and clear during the edit, re-adjusting our steady camera angles and getting a few shots of Tom waiting at the top of the aisle.

Emma had arranged a little surprise for Tom before she entered the room though - a recording of their daughter, telling her Daddy that she couldn't wait to see him - played throughout the venue and immediately Tom, lots of their guests and even Amy (as if there was any doubt) started crying.

As the flower girl, bridesmaids and finally Emma and her Dad came down the aisle those tears kept flowing, and their ceremony itself was just as emotional, with a reading from their page boys and the groom's sister.
After signing the register, Emma & Tom absolutely smashed their aisle exit with the biggest smiles on their faces and a cheer-worthy dip kiss at the end! Next, we set up a confetti tunnel which is always a blast, followed by a group shot of all their guests and some time spent on their "Mum's mantlepiece" photos, with a couple of members of the bridal party kindly helping us to find the family members for each one (a big shout out to Chelsea & Johnny, you guys were awesome!)

We left the bridal party shots until last and then headed to a different location in front of the house to have some fun with these, using the gorgeous steps and pathway to get some shots of everyone together, before the bridesmaids and groomsmen headed back to the terrace for a well-earned drink.

Keeping things quick, we spent the next 10 minutes or so with just Emma & Tom on their couple portraits, again using the gorgeous backdrop of the house and a tiny venture into the woodland nearby, before sending them back to their guests to enjoy the rest of their drinks reception.

They had a magician - the fantastic Matt Windsor who's always so much fun to have around - entertaining their guests which went down a treat! We mingled with the guests and grabbed lots of candids of everyone having a blast in the insane April sunshine before taking detail shots of the barn, now totally re-arranged and ready for the wedding reception. We particularly loved the cake by The Cake Designer Manchester with a special tribute to their doggy!

After the guests were seated, the venue announced Emma & Tom into the room as husband and wife to one heck of a cheer. Their personalised aprons were a hilarious touch, and Matt continued to mesmerise the guests whilst pickpocketing numerous ties and watches to everyone's amazement.

Again, we feel like we need to mention just how awesome the staff at Rivington Hall Barn were. Every part of their day ran smoothly and, as suppliers, we were given such a great experience. They brought us drinks and a three-course meal and kept us updated of timelines throughout the wedding breakfast so we weren't having to worry about wolfing down a quick bite and getting back into position for the speeches. We felt so welcome and appreciated so truly can't thank everyone there enough for such a brilliant experience.

The wedding breakfast was followed by three speeches including Tom, the Father of the Bride and Best Man and then the guests returned to the terrace where there was plenty of seating and a designated bar, perfect for relaxing! We were lucky enough to get the most glorious golden hour during this time, so after a bit more time with their guests, we took Emma & Tom to a nearby field for some more portraits together.
We really enjoyed spending this time with them, taking way too many pictures (if there is such a thing) and generally having a laugh together. We'd already planned during our pre-wedding chat with Emma & Tom to head out for golden hour if it happened, which meant that we'd kept their pictures together short and sweet earlier in the day so they could get back to their drinks reception, and knowing we were coming out again in the evening made everyone more relaxed. These were definitely some of our favourite shots of the day too!

Once their evening guests arrived, we kicked off the nighttime celebrations with a cake cutting and Emma & Tom's first dance - featuring some pretty epic confetti cannons that the venue had set-up! What a moment that was. The confetti stayed on the floor and the kids had so much fun playing with it too. The vibe was just epic all around, with DJ Dom Wood creating such a brilliant atmosphere for one heck of a party to send Emma & Tom into married life. We won't be forgetting this one anytime soon!
